Interview: Inventor Tips for Exhibiting at Tradeshows- Total Pet Expo, Colette Fairchild, Tradeshow Director on Got Invention Radio

 

Colette Fairchild began working in the pet industry at age 14 at her local pet store and worked at Pier 1 Imports as the tropical fish department manager during her college years. Following her graduation from Northern Illinois University where she majored in Journalism/Public Relations, Colette began working as an editorial assistant for PET AGE magazine, owned by H.H. Backer Associates. She switched over to working on the company’s two exhibitions, where she served as trade show coordinator for six years. Colette returned to H.H. Backer to lead the company’s trade show division in 1998, where she has been trade show director ever since.

Show Description:
Backer’s Total Pet Expo 2014 Spring Trade Show runs April 9-11, 2014, at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, N.J. The show feature exhibitors from around the world displaying dog, cat, bird, aquatic, reptile, and small animal products and services for a diverse buying audience that includes pet stores, groomers, kennel operators, boutique/specialty gift stores, hardware stores, big box stores, mail order catalogs, online stores, and distributors. In 2012, the spring show drew 318 exhibitors in 583 booths and approximately 5,400 retail buyers from around the world.

Backer’s Spring Total Pet Expo includes the following specialty areas: the Product Innovation Area, the Pet Store on the Floor, the Smart Zone Education Stations, the New Exhibitor Area, the All-Natural Area, and the Idea Wall. Also included are the Backer Buyer Rewards Program and new educational “pods” located right on the trade show floor.
